Caregiving

Providing care to a person living with serious illness is not easy. It can be physically and emotionally exhausting, especially if the individual is someone close to you. It is important to remember to care for yourself and get the support you need.

Suggestions for what you can do:

  • take breaks at regular intervals
  • seek assistance with care that is physically or emotionally demanding
  • ask for pastoral care visits for emotional and spiritual support
  • eat and sleep at regular intervals
  • accept support from family and friends
  • discuss any questions or concerns that you may have with the medical team
  • reach out to local support services
